USA Today names Kimball's ice cream the best in Massachusetts

USA Today lists Kimball's Ice Cream as the best ice cream in Massachusetts. We of course can get Kimball's right from their parlor in Jaffrey just ten minutes from Little River Bed and Breakfast. We and all of our guests know it is the place for ice cream in the region and some of the best ice cream anywhere...now the rest of the country knows it is worth the trip too!

For those who have not been, they are seasonal and are only open from Spring through Columbus Day weekend.  Paula's favorite is Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl and mine is Ginger Snap Cookie Molasses (only available late in the season) and the Malted Moo Crunch is pretty darn good as well.

I wish I had some pictures to show you but you will just have to take my word for it...their servings are huge!

Shakespeare In The Park

Peterborough is home to Depot Park, a nice downtown park at the confluence of the Nubanusit and Contoocook rivers.  The park is not only home to the Peterborough Farmers Market and available for a stroll or relaxing anytime...but it is also the site where the award winning local Actors' Circle Theater group performs a Shakespeare play each summer.  Check out the two pictures from last year's Taming of the Shrew

This year they are performing Merry Wives of Windsor.  Last year's play was very well staged and the setting could not be more perfect.  So bring a blanket and a dinner picnic basket and enjoy the show...it is so worth the trip!

Blueberries festivals nearby

For weeks we have been raving about how great a blueberry season we are having...the bushes on the hiking trails are loaded with them and two annual festivals coming up over the next two weekends celebrate their yumminess.

This Saturday, August 7th is the 4th Annual Greenfield Blueberry Jamboree.  Greenfield claims to be the "Home of the High Bush Blueberry Bush" and there will be horse drawn hay rides, pie eating contests, crafters, vendors, and much much more!

The following Saturday, August 14th is the 8th Annual Richmond Blueberry Fiddle Festival held at the county fairgrounds in Swanzey.  There will be music, contra-dancing, antique car show, auction, and of course a blueberry dessert bake-off :)
