St Patrick School Christmas Lights Show

St Patrick School in Jaffrey (ten minutes South of Peterborough) is displaying its annual Christmas lights choreographed to music through New Year's Eve. Last night we watched the lights synchronized to Snoopy, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and others. Just park in their lot and tune you car radio station to 89.7 and enjoy the show. Here's a one minute clip from TSO.

eBird for New Hampshire Birders

We just learned that the birding resource eBird recently teamed up with New Hampshire Audubon and New Hampshire Bird Records to launch New Hampshire eBird ( The website is a free, user-friendly way for birders to record, archive, and share their observations on-line and the new NH-site is specifically tailored to the Granite State. The website not only includes interactive maps and lists and provides a personal records-keeping system for birders to use, but it also serves as resource for scientists doing research in the areas of conservation and ecology. Even if you are not a birder, the website is worth a glance... especially the New Hampshire eBird Rarities Pool photos. Very cool!

December Snow in Peterborough

This past weekend we had our first significant snow of the season with three, or maybe even four, inches of the stuff falling and accumulating! We've had cold weather to go with it, so it just might stick around for a few more days. Whether you like the cold or not, you can't deny that is makes for some pretty nice pictures!
