Just a few days ago, some guests walked outside and were greeted by a beautiful Luna Moth perched on our clapboards just outside our main entrance door. This is the first Luna Moth any of us have ever seen live and he/she/it has now been with us for three days.
We are taking this as a sign of good luck, Luna Moths only live about seven days and only emerge from their cocoon about twice a year so we feel very fortunate to have had one visit us for such a long time.

Earlier this week at breakfast, a guest asked if we had local strawberries here in NH yet. Since it has seemed a rather cool start to the summer, I figured we were still a week or so away. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised when I started searching around and found that there were quite a few nearby farms that had already opened for pick-your-own berries! So I managed to sneak out one evening this week and pick... 12.5 pounds! Some of the berries have already been happily enjoyed by guests, others have been turned into jam, and many have been carefully preserved for future Strawberry Pecan Bread and other breakfast treats. The typical strawberry season around here last 3-4 weeks, so we are hoping we'll have time to pick some more!
