Our biggest weekend of January...

Once again it is time to dance...the Peterborough Folk Music Society is hosting its 16th annual Snowball Contra-Dance and people will coming to the area from all over New England. No tapping shoes required...in fact many go barefoot at this square dance style of dancing. I don't think Dancing With The Stars has done Contra-Dancing yet but maybe they should :)

That's not all that is going on. Since the mid-December ice storm shut down most local businesses for anywhere from five to ten days just before Christmas and during the prime holiday shopping season...they downtown businesses have decided to have an "Ice Storm Sale Extravaganza". January 23-25, many (if not most) of the stores in town are having a big sale. From art galleries and clothing stores to dining and home furnishings. The list is too big to mention everyone but if you like to shop in Peterborough (and sales tax free), this may be the weekend to do it! We have a list so contact us if there is a particular store you want to know about.

Peterborough...untamed and uncut :)

OK...maybe not Peterborough but we recently had a guest who was in town on business working on a segment for Animal Planet's show Untamed and Uncut. He has a fascinating job that has him traveling all over the world at a moment's notice and his moment's notice brought him to the Monadnock region. He was working on a video segment of a wildebeest in Africa that survives an attack by multiple female lions as other wildebeest's uncharacteristically come to his rescue.

What does this have to do with Peterborough, apparently there is an African Wildebeest expert here in town he needed to interview. Who would have known!

He showed us the video and it is absolutely fascinating. If you are an Animal Planet fan, make sure to check it out!
