It’s Maple Sugar time in NH…yum!

The Maple Sugar houses have been tapping trees since late February and fro talking with one fo the local houses, this is going to be a pretty decent year. This weekend is/was NH Maple Weekend and we have seven Maple Sugar houses within an easy twenty five minute drive of us.

I walked into Ben's Sugar Shack yesterday (just ten minutes down the road) and took one big breath...mmmmm that smells good If you missed the open house weekend, don't worry about it, the houses will be making maple products throughout the season and it is a great time to stock up on the sweet stuff directly from the source and it's not just maple syrup, there's maple candy, maple popcorn, maple cream, and even maple cotton candy.

Colored Easter Eggs… the natural way!

We often try to get our eggs from local farms. Recently, a friend who has free-range chickens and ducks surprised us with a dozen beautiful eggs - big ones, little ones, speckled, even blue! They were so pretty, we had to take a picture to share.

Wine in the Woods…

Now this sounds fun! On March 22nd, the Boston University Sargent Center just down the road from us is hosting a fundraiser event called Wine in the Woods. This will also be an educational event as a Master of Wine and an Executive Chef treat attendees to French country cuisine and French wines (produced from grapes grown either organically or biodynamically) learning to pair the proper wine with the right foods.

For more information, check out the BU Sargent Center website.

Adding color to the B&B

We may have recently celebrated our one year anniversary but there are still projects around the B&B that need to be completed and we are always working hard to make the house look and feel "fresh" and well maintained. Obviously bigger projects need the house to be free of guests so we don't disturb them with loud power tools, lots of dust, and the smell of fresh paint.

This weekend was one of those weekends when we were able to cross a big project off the list...painting the stairwell. So adding color meant taking our white stairwell and making it a light golden beige (officially "Navajo White"). The picture doesn't do it justice but the difference is significant...the stairwell feels much "warmer" now. It doesn't hurt that Paula is a very good painter either.
