Peterborough gets a new state park...

Thursday, August 14th, New Hampshire Governor John Lynch, Congressman Paul Hodes, and other dignitaries were on hand for the dedication of Temple Mountain State Reservation. The reservation, comprising the old Temple Mountain Ski Area property that closed in 2001, is the first state park added in Southern NH in twenty years.

The 350+ acre reservation is a vital link in the 21 mile Wapack Trail that connects Crotched Mountain in New Hampshire and Mount Watatic in Ashburnham, Massachusetts and abuts Miller State Park, New Hampshire's oldest state park.

This means more hiking and outdoor opportunities for people living in or visiting the Monadnock region!

  1. On the Crotched Mountain end, we are now building an accessible trail - about four miles, up the mountain, so that all hikers and their friends can get out...

The first mile should be complete within a month. Long way still to go...

  2. Thanks for that info Don...every extra mile of hiking trails is a bonus. Please keep us up to date on the progress!
