The other “foliage season” in NH

Our Sunday newspaper had a short story by Dave Anderson (Forest Journal, page B1) about the other "foliage season" in New Hampshire and on our recent drive to Keene, we realized that it really is true! The trees are in bud and the hillsides are again filled with reds, oranges, and bright greens. Pretty blossoms in pinks and whites fill in gaps in the trees and wildflowers grace the forest floors. Soon, summer will be here and the rich green leaves will be out in full, but until then we'll enjoy the delicate colors of spring.

P.S. In case the Children and the Arts Festival this Saturday isn't enough to do, Boston University's Sargent Center for Outdoor Education is holding a Family Fun Day this Sunday, May 18, from 1 - 4 PM. In addition to hiking, canoeing, and kayaking, they are offering a climbing tower and GPS scavenger hunt. Sounds like fun!
